Winnipeg Crime Stoppers has launched a bus bench advertising campaign aimed at promoting safety across the city’s transit system.
The initiative encourages passengers to report criminal activity anonymously.
“Every transit user deserves to feel safe during their journey,” Winnipeg Crime Stoppers chairman Robert MacKenzie said in a news release. “Our message is simple: if you see something, say something — and you will always remain anonymous.”
Winnipeg Crime Stoppers launched 40 years ago next month. The organization received 4,059 tips this year as of Oct. 23, more than the 4,006 in all of 2023.
The organization said tips to the local Crime Stoppers — a registered charity overseen by a volunteer board — have led to 46 homicide cases being solved over the years.
